This year there is an impressive line-up of features, documentaries and shorts from around the globe.

If you’re a Beau Bridges fan, he’ll be at Cinema Paradiso on October 23rd for the 5:45pm screening of his new film “Don’t Fade Away“.  Starring alongside bridges in this film are Ryan Kwanten (from HBO’s ”True Blood“), Ja Rule and Mischa Barton. Bridges will be presented with a Lifetime Achievements Award right before the film’s screening with an audience Q&A after the film.

The plot of “Don’t Fade Away” revolves around Jackson White (Kwanten). With looks, brains, and athletic ability, the world’s possibilities seemed limitless. When he came to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the music industry, he was so seduced by money and status that he lost track of who he was. Now, with both his personal and professional lives on the edge of ruin, he’s been called home to care for his dying father. While in North Carolina and Los Angeles, he’ll have to confront the friends he lost track of and the girl he never met.

HBO debuts THE LATINO LIST September 28 and 29

YouTube Preview Image

Angels, angels, angels, what a fiesta at HBO’s premiere of THE LATINO LIST at The Colony Theatre in fabulous South Beach!  Make sure you tune in to HBO on September the 28th (9pm EST) and 29th (8pm EST) to view this funny, poignant and ingenious documentary.

Directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, acclaimed photographer and director of the three editions of HBO’s “The Black List”, THE LATINO LIST spotlights a diverse range of notables from music, science, journalism, theater, politics, business and government.  The celebrated subjects share stories of growing up Latino in America, how their backgrounds shaped their philosophies and their feelings on a society where new opportunities abound, but challenges still exist.

Director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is an exciting and celebrated portrait photographer whose work is in the collections of numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, The Metropolitan Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery.  Between 2008 and 2010, he produced and directed, in collaboration with Elvis Mitchell and Freemind Ventures, “The Black List”, a series of three HBO documentaries, a traveling museum exhibition of portraits, a book and DVDs.  Timothy received an NAACP Image Award for “The Black List” Volume 1.

Yours truly got the chance to chat with award-winning photographer and director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders about the project. Check out the interview!  I had a red carpet interview moment with Gloria and Emilio Estefan and astronaut Jose Moreno Hernandez, all featured in the documentary.

Angels, Miss Finesse gives this documentary a 5-tiara rating.  I applaud Timothy for putting together such an authentic piece with such a diverse representation of Latinos.  It was entertaining, insightful, inspirational and real.  Other featured subjects in the film include Maria Hinojosa, Armando Christian Perez (aka Pitbull), Julie Stav, John Leguizamo, Sandra Cisneros, Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, Dr. Marta Moreno Vega and more.

Make sure you don’t miss this amazing documentary.  Until next time, keep your Pradas on the ground, your list in check and keep on Living Large!
